Bachelor of Applied Management
I truly didn't believe it until they said I'd finished and would graduate. This recognition of my prior learning is just phenomenal and it's so relevant and so valid.
Shirley Kerr, Bachelor of Applied Management (Strategic Management)
Are you an experienced manager?
The Bachelor of Applied Management Degree is awarded to students with recognised knowledge and skills as an experienced practitioner in a specialised area of management or the wider field of general management and leadership. People with relevant, substantial experience and learning may be able to obtain all or part of this degree via Independent Learning Pathways (ILP) through Capable NZ. Usually applicants are in current relevant employment or practicing in their chosen field.
How can CAPABLE NZ help you get a Bachelor of Applied Management?
There are two pathways for experienced adults to gain a Bachelor of Applied Management. These are Independent Learning Pathways (ILP) and Work-based Learning (WBL). Generally, the more experienced you are in your field, the more likely it is that ILP will be the most direct route to your desired qualification. However, if there are any gaps in your knowledge and skills, then WBL (or a mixture of both pathways) may be the best option. We will identify the right pathway for you during the initial assessment of your background and application.
In both pathways, skilled facilitators help you explore your own experiential learning, taking an holistic, integrated view of the expected outcomes in the graduate profile of this qualification. In this innovative process, you will identify, demonstrate, articulate and reflect upon the understandings and skills you have developed through your work and other relevant learning experiences. This is an opportunity to explore all aspects of work (paid and unpaid) and shape these into a Practice Framework.
Independent Learning Pathways (ILP)
Are you in senior management or a small business owner? Perhaps you are involved in making strategic decisions on behalf of a business? If so, you could be assessed for the Bachelor of Applied Management through our ILP process. ILP measures your experiential learning, skills and knowledge against an actual qualification.
Work-based Learning (WBL)
Are you an operational manager (team leader, supervisor, first line management)? If so, you could have your experience, knowledge and skills assessed through APL (please see above) to achieve a National Diploma in Business (Level 5), or a National Diploma in Business Administration (Level 5). Then, you would undertake WBL to complete a Bachelor of Applied Management. WBL allows you to complete a qualification, in partnership with your employer. You embark upon a project that gives you the competencies you need in order to obtain a Bachelor of Applied Management, while directly benefitting your workplace.
